TOP flight domestic football will return when the 2018/19 Absa Premiership kicks-off this afternoon with clubs taking each other at various venues across the country.
The opening act of the 2018/19 #AbsaPrem will see defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns host Kaizer Chiefs for the much-anticipated fixture at Loftus Stadium at 15h00.
There are five other fixtures on Saturday evening:
At 18h00, newly-promoted side Black Leopards and Polokwane City will battle in the Limpopo derby at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Two more matches will kick-off at 18h00. The 2016/17 Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits will be hosting Free State Stars at Bidvest Stadium while Benni McCarthy’s Cape Town City are at home against SuperSport United at Cape Town Stadium.
In the evening (20h15), there will be two matches: The first match will see last season’s runners-up, Orlando Pirates – who put a spirited fight for the title during the 2017/18 season – against newly promoted Highlands Park at Orlando Stadium.
At the same time, Amazulu will be hosting Baroka at King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
On Sunday, Chippa United will travel to the Free State to play Bloemfontein Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium at 15h00.
Maritzburg United – a side that won hearts last season with gutsy performances – will be up against Lamontville Golden Arrows at Harry Gwala Stadium. Kick-off is also at 15h00.
