Chiefs lift Carling Black Label Cup but can they also lift the Fame Charity Cup?

e4a1da9c00d44934a01a3d6fac5e2c61CBL Champion Cup 3D Logo_v1KAIZER Chiefs have boasted their confident ahead of the new Absa Premiership season after their epic 2-0 victory over fellow Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates during the Carling Black Label Cup, WRITES NAKAMPE LEKWADU.

Chiefs start their 2016/16 Premiership campaign on August 23 away to BidVest Wits at the BidVest Wits Stadium, but before that, they have another challenging pre-season  against Limpopo province’s top clubs via the Fame Charity Cup.

The competition up north this coming Saturday (August 6) at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane forms part of the three day event, the Fame Awards which will see the deserving film makers, musicians, entertainers and actors from Limpopo being honoured.

Eric Mathoho who has been included in the Owen da Gama’s Olympic Team for this year’s Rio Olympic Games and the newly signed Zambian international, Lewis Macha scored all those important goals that saw Chiefs lift their second Carling Black Label Cup since its inception in 2011. The Naturena based side first won the competition in 2013 while Pirates have won four editions, first the inaugural in 2011 before they could brace themselves in 2012 and then back to back in 2014 and 2015.

Back in Limpopo’s Fame Charity Cup, Chiefs will play against the newly promoted National First Division (NFD) side, Magesi FC in the second semi-final of the competition at 12 mid-day. Earlier on at 10am, Baroka will take on Black Leopards in the first semi-final match.

The winning clubs will face each other in the final match expected to kick-off at 4pm. Tickets for the Fame Charity Cup are on sale at computickets at R80.
