FOR the past three years Mr Ntsieng Lenong celebrated his birthday with needy communities in Soweto,
By making a difference in the lives of others with the assistance from Coca Cola Beverages SA
This year he planned a fundraiser for the Red Lions Sports Academy which been formed in Phiri Soweto where he grew up.
It is from the soccer team in this community that Siphiwe Tshabalala (formerly with Kaizer Chiefs) was groomed. We are trying to remove the kids from the streets and committing them to programs that will keep them busy away from idling, drug abuse and crime.
On Monday, 22nd April the set up at 8.30am at the park with heavy rainfalls.
The community of Phiri where I grew up were looking forward to this day and nothing would deter them.
Red Lions has 74 young boys ranging from 8 to 17 years with 16 girls all bellow 16years.
This is where South Africa’s 2010 world cup hero Siphiwe Tshabalala started his soccer careers.
I grew up in this community and giving back to a team of 4 divisions sharing one kit was eminent.
From Turkey where he is now based, Siphiwe inspired the young boys when he was put on loud speaker connected to the microphone addressing the boys.
There was storm, hail and thunder on frequent intervals but the kits that Siphiwe and I bought, brought cheers and much joy through it all.
The day ended with a feast and appreciation from Coca Cola Beverages SA, donations of coca cola soccer balls, beverages and CCBSA branding
Thanks to Georgett Naidoo, CSI Specialist of Coca Cola Beverages SA that made herself present to handover the soccer balls to the teams
The day was well spent and as Shakespeare put it” storms may come but the ship sails on
