LEOPARDS AND TTM CARRY LIMPOPO’S HOPES IN THE NEDBANK CUP

SIXTEEN clubs will return to Nedbank Cup action between February 16-19 as they take each other in an attempt to book themselves for some positions in the quarter-finals.
Limpopo’s remaining clubs in the Ke Yona Cup, Black Leopards and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), ironically both from Venda avoided each other during the draw which was conducted at the Mnet’ SuperSport offices in Randburg on Thursday night.
Leopards were thrown a lifeline after they were drawn home but in a rather much tough opponents against the premiership log leaders BidVest Wits.
Lidoda Duvha who eliminated Orlando Pirates out of the competition over this past weekend are currently playing an enterprising football which have seen them going five five games without a defeat, something which saw their head coach Daylen Kerr and the club’s leading goal-scorer Mwape Musonda being crowned Coach and Player of the Month.
On the hand TTM who ply their trade in the National First Division were drawn away to the elite league’s relegation threatened, Chippa United. Vhadau vha Damani as TTM are known ejected the high-riding Polokwane City out of the competition and it remain to be seen if they can spring a surprise for yet another elite league side.
Already it’s a known fact that there will be a well balance of clubs from both the NFD and the elite league in the quarter-finals of the competition as clubs campaigning in the lower division have drawn against each other and likewise in the bigger league.
The full Nedbank Cup last 16 draw:
Cape Umoya United v Mbombela United, Jomo Cosmos v TS Galaxy, Witbank Spurs v Golden Arrows, Magic FC V Kaizer Chiefs, Cape Town City v Highland Park and Bloemfontein Celtic v Richards Bay FC.
Meanwhile the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search is now open to non-professional male footballers aged 18-23 who have South African ID numbers and are Nedbank account holders.
