2020 April 10 will go down the church’s historical books as the worst Good Friday ever in our life time. This after Christians in the country and other parts of the world were robbed off an opportunity of commemorating the Easter Day (Good Friday) at their respective churches due to the imposed 21 Days Lockdown
Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary, and it is on this day that they (Christians) gathers at various churches to commemorate the day. Unfortunately this year churches will be without congregations to commemorating the entire Easter weekend as the country is on a Lockdown due to COVID-19.
It is a well-known fact that on a day like this (a day before Good Friday), the roads leading to Limpopo get congested with traffic as members of one of the biggest church on the continent, the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) heads to Zion City, Moria outside Polokwane for pilgrimage.
Today Lepelle Review team took a trip via R71 through to Moria City’ surrounding, and it was an unusual day as the road which is usual congested with traffic and street vendors alike was very lonely with a handful cars travelling opposite directions freely.
Good Friday is observed by many Christians, preceding Easter Sunday, and then wrap this Easter weekend on Monday (known as Ascension Day (also known on the calendar as Easter Monday)
The 21 Days Lockdown in the country started on March 26 and it was supposed to come to an end on April 16, but the president, Cyril Ramaphosa has since extended it with two more weeks to April 30.
