IT’s official, Orlando Pirates’ relationship and their head coach Kjell Jonevret has come to an abrupt end.
This after the 55 year old Swedish mentor’s decision to tender his resignation with immediate effect.
Jonevret who joined Pirates in February this year was quoted on the club’s official twitter page saying: “I’d like to thank the Club for the opportunity. It didn’t work out as planned. I wish the club and its supporters all the best.”
Jonevret joined the troubled Sea Robbers in February this year, replacing care-taker coach Augusto Palacios. This after Palacios was appointed as care-taker following the resignation of Muhsin Ertugral.
Under Jonevret’s mentorship, Pirates failed to qualify for a top eight spot this past season after the Soweto giants finished on the 11th position.
The Swedish coach’s resignation was confirmed by the Soweto giants on their official Twitter account on Wednesday.
