LIMPOPO Tourism Agency (LTA) is thrilled to announce that “The Lion and The Hunter” a short documentary filmed and commissioned by the Agency, produced by Neil Johnson has been selected as a finalist for Jozi Film Festival (JFF) Don’t Stop Wondering award at the Jozi Film Festival 2018.
The longest-running multi-genre film festival in the City of Johannesburg is now in its seventh year! Submissions for the seventh annual JFF opened 19 February 2018 and closed 28 May 2018. JFF called for feature films, short fiction films, documentaries (both short and long) as well as student films, from South Africa and internationally.
The Festival has for the second year partnered with Discovery Channel to bring you the “Don’t Stop Wondering Award” – a call for 2-5 minute documentaries from filmmakers across Africa which showcase and celebrate unique African stories and capture Discovery’s ethos of sparking curiosity.
The commissioning of the short documentary was one of LTA’s efforts to showcase the diverse tourism offerings that the Province has as a destination on the digital space. Neil Johnson and his team Travel Massive visited Limpopo Province during February 2018 to shoot a Youtube series of various tourism attractions and events, “The Lion and The Hunter” emerged as a final product of the efforts.
“We are really excited about the great news which to us is vote of confidence in our province as a film destination of note. The wealth of heritage and culture in the Province is clear sign that the province has much more to offer than just tourism that it leads with. We wish to make a clarion call to all film makers in the country and beyond to come forward for more films in the Province given its potential”, said Ms. Nomasonto Ndlovu, CEO of Limpopo Tourism Agency.
