Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune is eager for a good start in 2011 when his side comes up against log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership clash at the FNB stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Bafana Bafana number one mentioned the significance of getting the three points at home against a formidable Sundowns outfit and closing the gap at the top of the Absa Premiership standings.
“It’s very important that we get a good start in 2011 and set the tone for the rest of the year. Our game against Sundowns will not be easy as they posses a very strong side, but we hope to get the maximum points we need on the day and close the gap at the top of the log.” said the Amakhosi goalie.
Following the Brazilians loss to AmaZulu, Khune believes his side will be more aware of the threat that will be posed by a wounded Sundowns outfit.
“We do not want to read too much into their loss to AmaZulu, but we are prepared for a much more determined Sundowns side and we will make sure that we get the necessary result on the day.” said the Ventersdop born player.
A win over Sundowns will cut the lead to one point and set a very interesting title battle heading towards the second round of fixtures in the league.
