Kick-Off at the BidVest Stadium is 8pm and it remain to be seen if the two sides will continue to dish out their best performance. City goes to this match under a new coach, Benny McCarthy who took over the club’s hot seat from Eric Tingle who has since joined SuperSport United as their head coach.
Both City and Wits are still in cloud nine after their 1-0 and (4-3 penalty) victories over Polokwane City and Golden in the quarter-finals of the MTN8 over this past weekend. It goes without saying that the two sides have had a good past season with Wits having won double, both the league and the MTN8 while City won the Telkom Knockout before finishing their league season campaign third with 55 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns (2nd with 57 points) and Wits (60 points).
The league action will continue on Saturday, August 19 with attention shifting to two derbies taking place in Polokwane and Tshwane respectively.
In Tshwane, SuperSport United will be welcoming Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium while Polokwane City take on rivals, Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Both the two derbies start at 3pm.
Two more matches will be played on the same day elsewhere with AmaZulu welcoming Free State Stars at the King Zwelithini Stadium at 3pm. Three hours later will see Orlando Pirates entertaining Chippa United at Orlando Stadium at 6pm with Ajax Cape Town and Platinum Stars taking on Golden Arrowns and Maritzburg United at the Cape Town Stadium and Royal Bafokeng respectively. (Kick-Off for both the games is at 8.15pm)
