MPUMALANGA Black Aces have technically won the National First Division’s Promotion/Relegation Play-Offs after their goalless draw last night against Chippa United in Cape Town.
Despite the outcome which saw AmaZayoni cementing their top position in this mini league play-offs with 7 points as opposed to the Chilli Boys who were playing their last match which saw them finished second with 5 points, the Mpumalanga side are forced to put their celebration to their return to the bigger league on hold pending on an arbitration decision involving Thanda Royal Zulu. For the record, Aces will play their last play-offs match at home in Middelburg against the visiting Santos who are lying third with 1 point after they played one draw against Chippa United before they could lose to the same club and Aces.
Earlier before the play-offs could take place, the Premier Soccer League made it clear to the three clubs which were involved in these play-offs, Aces, Chippa and Santos that the results of all the matches will only be regarded as provisional pending on the case.
Just like Polokwane City of Zebediela in Limpopo who finished the NFD league campaign on top of the log to earn an automatic promotion to the Absa Premiership, Aces’ celebration has been put on ice until the Thanda Royal Zulu’s arbitration case can be heard.
Gauteng High Court last week referred the application by Thanda Royal Zuli to arbitration.
The Premier Soccer League last week issued the statement concerning the case as follow:
The Judge’s ruling is in line with the argument advanced by the PSL throughout the proceedings that the matter cannot be argued in court but through processes available to all 32 members of the Premier Soccer League as stated in the NSL Rules.
The Judge did not rule on the merits of the application. The Court ordered that the issues be referred to arbitration or arbitrators appointed in terms of the constitution and rules of the National Soccer League, as read with those of the South African Football Association and any further instruments incorporated by reference in the constitution and rules of NSL and SAFA.
