Blitzboks Face Challenging Group in Perth Sevens Draw

The Blitzboks find themselves in a challenging Pool A for the upcoming Perth Sevens, grouped alongside Argentina, the current leaders, as well as Canada and Spain.

To achieve success at the Perth Sevens, happening in two weeks, the Blitzboks face a tough challenge, having been drawn into a pool with three formidable opponents.

The Perth Sevens is scheduled from January 26 to 28, with the pool draws having been conducted in the Australian city on Thursday, January 11.

South Africa currently holds the second position in the HSBC Sevens Series standings after participating in two tournaments. They claimed victory in the Dubai tournament but had a less successful run in front of their home audience at the Cape Town Sevens.

At the Cape Town SVNS in December, the Blitzboks experienced a disappointing weekend, culminating in a 7-31 loss to New Zealand in the fifth-place playoff.

Argentina, one of the Blitzboks’ pool adversaries in Perth, presently leads the standings. They emerged victorious in the Cape Town Cup and were runners-up in Dubai.

In other draws, host nation Australia has been placed in a competitive Pool B with Ireland, Great Britain, and the USA. Meanwhile, Olympic champions Fiji are set to face the reigning series champions New Zealand, along with France and Samoa, in a formidable Pool C.
