THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced some changes to fixtures for the second round of the 2011/2012 Absa Premiership season.
This was revealed by the PSL General Manager of football, Derek Blanckensee, yesterday at the League’s headquarters in Johannesburg.
The change has been necessitated mainly to accommodate teams that will be participarting in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup.
Orlando Pirates, who were African champions in 1995, will embark on an audacious journey to conquer Africa again while Black Leopards will be another South African representative in Africa.
“Following the release of the detailed fixtures for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, we amended our fixtures.
“These, together with some specific requests for changes coming from our broadcast partner, have resulted in some changes to our fixtures for the remainder of the season.
“For the remainder of the season we have the alternative dates to which the affected ABSA Premiership matches will be moved in the event that our two teams remain in their respective CAF Competitions.
“For example you will see that 11 April is shown as an alternative date. Matches involving Orlando Pirates and Black Leopards from the weekend of 6-8 April will be moved to 11 April if they are still participating in the respective CAF tournaments,” Blanckensee said.-PSL
