KAIZER Chiefs will go in search of their first Absa Premiership win of the New Year when they host Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 16 February 2013, kick-off at 20h15.
Chiefs’ first match of 2013 saw them held to a goalless draw away to Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday.
The Soweto giants will be banking on their excellent home record this season, which has seen them claim 23 points from a possible 27 so far.
The Amakhosi are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 36 points from 17 matches.
Stars restarted their league campaign in style, claiming a 3-0 home win over Chippa United on Tuesday evening.
The Free State side has performed respectably away from home this season, recording three wins, three draws and two losses from eight matches on the road.
Ea Lla Koto are placed fourth on the Absa Premiership log with 28 points from 17 matches.
In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Stars have met in 26 league matches since 1996.
The Amakhosi have traditionally dominated the encounter, claiming 16 wins compared to just three for Ea Lla Koto.
That record is tilted even more sharply in favour of Chiefs when they are at home: nine wins and just one defeat from 13 matches.
When the teams met earlier this season in the Free State, they played to a goalless stalemate.
