English Team Poised to Secure RG Snyman’s Signature, According to Report

Highly-coveted Springbok lock RG Snyman is reportedly on the brink of joining the English club Bath, overshadowing interest from the Stormers.

Following the announcement of RG Snyman’s departure from Irish team Munster, the Stormers appeared to be the frontrunners in securing his talents within South Africa. However, a lucrative offer from Bath in England seems to be the more likely choice for Snyman.

A recent report from The Telegraph suggests that Bath is expecting a decision from the 28-year-old soon, possibly by the end of this week. There’s anticipation at Farleigh House, Bath’s training ground, that Snyman will renew his professional association with coach Johann Van Graan.

L’Equipe recently reported that Snyman had agreed to a deal with Bath, valuing approximately £450,000 annually.

THE STORMERS STILL HAD HOPES TO SIGN SNYMAN
Contrasting reports in the Sunday newspaper Rapport indicate that the Stormers, backed by their new equity partners Red Disa, are still contenders for Snyman’s signature. They are considering a competitive offer around R13 million (roughly £550,000). This deal would involve support from SA Rugby, as Snyman is a Player of National Interest, with the national rugby body contributing to his salary.

However, finalizing funds in time remains a concern, as Red Disa’s equity deal is still in its early stages.

MUNSTER TO SAY GOODBYE TO SNYMAN NEXT YEAR
Munster has confirmed Snyman’s imminent departure at the season’s end for a new opportunity. “A hugely popular figure at the province, Snyman won his second World Cup with the Springboks last month. Despite facing long-term injuries, he has been influential in Munster, making six appearances last season in the URC title race. He is presently recovering from surgery for a chest/shoulder injury,” stated a release from Munster.

In related news, Munster announced that Jean Kleyn, Snyman’s World Cup-winning teammate, has signed a contract extension.
