Peugeot has announced a substantial package of updates to its line-up of 207 compact hatchback and CC models. The package highlights include a fresh new look, while a service plan has now been included as standard across the range. The changes include a fresher, more contemporary look, as well as revised interiors, with commensurate updates to the list of standard specifications. A more powerful, highly efficient 1,4-litre engine has also been added to the line-up.
In addition, the model nomenclature has been adapted, and now refers to Urban, Active and Dynamic models, rather than the previous XL, XR+ and XS designations.
The revised 207 range still offers three-door and five-door hatchback versions, as well as the athletic, highly attractive CC, with a choice of advanced petrol and turbodiesel engines.
Perhaps the most striking aspect of the new Peugeot 207 is the front styling, which gets a substantially revised grille, with detail changes dependent on individual models. The fog lights, where applicable, have also been repositioned. All 207 Urban and Active models are fitted with the larger, more pronounced grille finished in pure black. The grille of the Dynamic model is highlighted in chrome, with chrome surrounds for the fog lights.
Distinguishing the 207 GTi and CC Sport 2 models is a gunmetal grey grille with a glossy black centre bar, while the fog light recesses are more pronounced.Viewed in profile, the Dynamic and CC Sport 2 models get a chrome insert in the colour-coded rubbing strips fitted to the flanks of the car.The rear design is highlighted by new, high-tech tail lights incorporating LED technology – an unusual feature in this market segment. The 15 diodes boost tail light efficiency while also adding strong visual appeal.
The various wheel designs have been changed, too. Urban models are fitted with 15-inch ‘Hobart’ steel rims, while Active models are equipped with 15-inch ‘Brisbane’ steel rims, featuring a contoured eight-spoke design.A new, five-spoke ‘Canberra’ alloy wheel is standard on all Dynamic models, while the 17-inch ‘Melbourne’ alloy wheel, with its eight bright-polished spokes.
