After an early retirement compelled by health issues, Pat Lambie has found remarkable success outside of rugby, embarking on the construction of his dream home.
Pat Lambie, renowned for his tenure with the Springboks and as the Sharks’ “golden boy,” ended his rugby career with 56 international caps and a notable stint at Sharks from 2009 to 2017, followed by a brief period at Racing 92 in France.
In early 2019, Lambie retired at 28 due to recurrent concussions and post-concussion syndrome, marking an abrupt end to his sports career.
Transitioning to Business and Property Development
After moving to Paris with Racing 92 in 2017, Lambie planned a long stay but eventually returned to South Africa for family reasons. This move also allowed him to engage with the Collins Group, a multifaceted company involved in property development, tourism, private equity, and farming. Lambie shared in a 2019 interview his excitement to apply his professional sports insights and academic learnings to the business, particularly in property development, admiring the company’s investment in South Africa.
Lambie has since flourished as a property developer and briefly contributed as a kicking consultant coach at the Sharks. Currently, he plays a pivotal role at Collins Group as a sales and project coordinator for several residential developments.
Embarking on a Personal Project
Lambie has also initiated the construction of his ideal home at Seaton Estate on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, embracing this venture as an opportunity to blend his professional and personal lives. As the first to begin construction, Lambie aims to guide future homeowners by sharing the experience. He credits architect Lisa Rorich for perfectly capturing his vision, highlighting the estate’s direct access to a beautiful beach as a prime advantage for family and leisure activities.
Family Life and Future Endeavors
Married for a decade to his high school love, Kate, Lambie is a father to two sons, Jackson and Sam, cherishing his family life alongside his professional achievements and current projects.
