“We aim for our set piece to provide better momentum, to pressure them, and to convert our chances into points,” said Junior Springboks assistant coach Lumumba Currie.
“However, we are not underestimating Australia and we are preparing for a strong response from them,” he added.
“The World Rugby U20 Championship in Cape Town will present similar conditions, so it’s crucial for this team to learn to adapt and perform under such weather,” he stated.
SA U20 head coach Bafana Nhleko has made multiple changes to the starting lineup, which, according to Currie, align with the team’s strategic planning.
“We have 31 players here in the squad. We’re focused on building depth and giving them international exposure to foster their collective growth,” he explained.
“We also have to consider that we are playing three international games in 12 days, making player load management crucial,” he noted.
