Limpopo to showcase its golf skills

By FOCUS REPORTER

THE promotion of the Limpopo Province as a golfing destination is set to receive acclamation through its association with World Golf Events South Africa during the 17th World Golfers Championship. The event will take place at Zebula Golf Estate and Spa, in Limpopo outside Bela Bela.

“The event provides Limpopo Tourism and Parks with a significant opportunity to position itself as a golf and Safari destination, showcasing the unique golfing and safari experience not to be found anywhere else in the world. The province prides itself as a growing tourist Mecca with a wide variety of activities and places to visit for those wanting to experience the region before and after the tournament”, said the Limpopo Tourism & Parks (LTP) CEO, Mr. Rob Tooley.

The elimination will represent three provinces including Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga and the LTP will sponsor the provincial qualifier championship on the 3rd of September on the tranquil setting of Zebula Golf Estate and Spa.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Limpopo Tourism & Parks as we believe this to be a key opportunity to promote Limpopo and its products as a premier golfing destination to both local and international golfers. In support of this partnership, pre and post tours have been included in the marketing campaign to all golfers worldwide who are participating in the World Golfers Championship,” said Craig Clay-Smith, spokesperson for World Golf Events South Africa.

The bookings for the Limpopo regional elimination at Zebula Golf Estate is reportedly 60% full and filling fast. To avoid disappointment, World Golf Events South Africa is encouraging all interested amateur golfers, with an official handicap and over the age of 16, to enter and experience the thrill of competing for a world title. Players will first compete for a provincial team position within one of five handicap flights, namely 0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 and 21-25. Ten winners, two from each flighting, will then be flown to the 5-Star Fairmont Zimbali Resort in KwaZulu-Natal where they will compete over 36 holes at the renown Zimbali Country Club for a place in the national team to proudly represent South Africa.
