Manyisa eyeing Arrows scalp

ORLANDO Pirates lock horns with Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday night, looking to continue their form as they chase down log leaders Kaizer Chiefs for the prized number one spot.

Midfielder Oupa Manyisa who was on the score sheet in Bucs’ 2-1 win over Maritzburg United last week, said that the match against Arrows is a “must win.”

The industrious midfielder insisted that although it will be a tough match against the Durban side, the away win over United, has boosted the overall morale of the team.

“Durban is home for us,” insists Manyisa. “We enjoy playing in this part of the country because the supporters are very passionate and always make their presence felt in the stands.

“The win over Maritzburg United last week has motivated us and we would like to continue registering the positive results so that we can close the gap between us and Chiefs. So far we are collecting points even though we have not yet reached our full potential but we are getting there and I believe it’s only a matter of time before we are firing on all cylinders.”

Meanwhile, Siyabonga Sangweni reveals that he is eyeing yet another stellar performance against Arrows.

The KwaZulu Natal born defender has always excelled when facing his former employers, and he says Wednesday night will be no different.

“I have played for Arrows for many years and they will always have a special place in my heart but for the game against them tomorrow it will be business as usual. We are desperate for maximum points, we cannot afford any more slip ups.

“We have prepared very well for this match,” he added. “All that remains for us is to execute our plan and all will fall into place.

The rest of premiership’s fixtures tonight are: Moroka Swallows v Platinum Stars (Dobsonville), SuperSport United v Ajax Cape Town (Peter Mokaba), Bloemfontein Celtic v Black Leopards (Free State Stadium), BidVest Wits v Free State Stars (BidVest) and Chippa United v Mamelodi Sundowns (Athlone).
