THE old Peter Mokaba Stadium will be a hive of amateur football activities when it hosts a Limpopo Vodacom League triple header on Thursday.
The matches are part of the Limpopo-Safa Vodacom second round programmes.
In the opening match two-times Limpopo provincial league winners Peace Lovers will play against Pungo All Stars at 2pm. The results of this match may not have any serious impact or changes to the log standing especially at the top. In the next encounter the Mmabi-owned Dolphins will exchange swords with Modimolle Aces at 4pm with the last match of the day involving the Seshego-based side, Mighty FC who rub shoulders with the newly promoted Blue Rocks at 6pm. Mighty FC are owned by Mighty “Lone Murphy” Tjale while Blue Rocks are owned by Maruleng municipal manager Refilwe Ramothwala.
At the summit of the log is the Khurishi Mphahlele-owned Baroka FC with 44 points from 16 points followed by former National First Division side Winners Park with 36 points also from 16 matches. The province was represented by Peace Lovers in the past two seasons in the Vodacom League playoffs and Nedbank Cup unsuccessfully. The likelihood is that Baroka FC will represent the province in the national playoffs and they have already qualified for the last stage of the Nedbank Cup.
