Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt is optimistic that her experience in the WBBL will aid South Africa in their quest for a landmark T20I series victory in Australia.
Wolvaardt and her team have finalized their preparations and are eager to commence their series with the opening T20I against Australia this Saturday at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
PROTEAS IN AUSTRALIA
The first of three T20I matches is scheduled to start at 10:45 local time (01:45 SAST) and will be broadcast live on SuperSport Cricket (DStv Channel 212).
“Our preparation has been excellent. We’ve spent time in Sydney, holding practice sessions and playing against the Governor-General XI. It’s been a productive week in Australia, and we’re all set for tomorrow,” Wolvaardt mentioned, as reported by IOL.
“The ground is fantastic. It’s known for high scores, and I’m really looking forward to playing there.
“My experience in the WBBL has been invaluable. Being familiar with many of the grounds and the bowlers I’ll be facing, I hope to use this to our advantage.”
STIFF CHALLENGE
Wolvaardt is aware of the difficulty of the task ahead.
“We’re up against a formidable challenge,” she acknowledged about the upcoming match against Australia.
“They’re the world champions and playing in their home conditions, but I believe we’ve prepared thoroughly and are hopeful for a good outcome.
‘Their consistency over a long period has been impressive. Having played in the Big Bash, I’ve seen their dedication to skill development, which is commendable.
“They’re extremely hardworking and skilled cricketers, but our focus is on playing our best cricket. We also have a talented squad, and if we perform to our potential, we should be successful.”
