

In the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Proteas are set to compete in Group D alongside the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. This prestigious event will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA.
The Dutch team, known for their remarkable victories, has previously defeated South Africa in the last two ICC events. They ousted the Proteas from the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia and triumphed again during the league phase of the 50-over tournament in India the following year.
The 2024 T20 World Cup, featuring 20 teams, will commence on June 1st at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, with the opening match between co-hosts USA and Canada. South Africa’s campaign will start against Sri Lanka in New York on June 3rd, followed by matches against the Netherlands on June 8th and Bangladesh on June 10th, all at the same venue.
The Proteas will then head to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for their match against Nepal on June 14th. In this expanded tournament format, only the top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the Super 8s, followed by the knockout stages.
A highlight of the tournament will be the India vs. Pakistan match in New York on June 9th, one of eight matches scheduled at this location.
England, the defending champions, will start their title defense on June 4th in Barbados against Scotland. Pakistan, the 2022 finalists, will begin their campaign on June 6th in Dallas against the USA.
Uganda, making their debut in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, will face Afghanistan in their first-ever match of the tournament in Guyana on June 3rd.
