The Proteas team faces a significant challenge in their T20I series against India as key players Temba Bavuma, Lungi Ngidi, and Kagiso Rabada will be absent.
Lungi Ngidi, a prominent fast bowler for the Proteas, has been sidelined from the T20I series following a left lateral ankle sprain. The 27-year-old was expected to participate in both the T20 and ODI series as part of the build-up to the Betway Test series, but now he will have to focus on his recovery. He has been released from the Proteas squad and will continue his rehabilitation with the Momentum Multiply Titans, under the guidance of the Proteas medical team.
In light of Ngidi’s absence, Western Province fast bowler Beuran Hendricks has been called up as his replacement. The series opener against India is scheduled to take place at Kingsmead in Durban on Sunday at 16:00.
However, fans in South Africa will not be able to watch the India tour on SABC. This is due to the failure of Cricket South Africa and the SABC to reach an agreement regarding the broadcasting rights.
