The Premier Soccer League today confirmed the final fixture list for the remainder of the 2010 /2011 season.
The first change sees the block of Absa Premiership fixtures scheduled for February 16 move to March 16.
Another change sees the block of Absa Premiership fixtures scheduled for March 18-20 move April 6.
The re-scheduling of these fixtures now enables Bafana Bafana more time to prepare for their all important AFCON Qualifier against Egypt.
At the same time, the amendment to the fixture lists also allows for less congestion and for those teams that get knocked out of the Last 32 of the Nedbank Cup, the wait for the next League match is not a lengthy one.
“It’s a win-win situation for both organizations,” explained PSL CEO, Kjetil Siem.
“We have always maintained our commitment to the national team and after SAFA put in a request to allow more time for Bafana Bafana players to be in camp, we considered it seriously and found a solution.”
“It also helps our teams as well since a PSL team that gets knocked out of the Nedbank Last 32 could’ve gone 39 days without a match since this period entails CAF Weekends, a FIFA Week and Nedbank Cup Last 16,” added Siem.
