Rassie Suggests Rickelton Deserves a Place in the Proteas Teams

“I am aware of his strong desire to play international cricket. With Quinny moving on, Ryan is the ideal candidate to step into that role,” Rassie stated.

Proteas batsman Rassie Van der Dussen expressed his surprise at Ryan Rickelton’s exclusion from the squad for the series against India.

Van der Dussen and Rickelton set an SA20 record with their 200-run opening partnership for the Joburg SuperKings at the Wanderers. Their team won the match by 98 runs.

Rickelton scored 98 runs, while Rassie achieved his fourth T20 century. “I believe he has been unfairly overlooked for the squads against India. He has performed exceptionally well across all formats in the last two to three years,” Van der Dussen was quoted saying on TimesLive.

RASSIE VAN DER DUSSEN ASTONISHED BY RICKELTON’S EXCLUSION
“He is eager to play at the international level. Ryan is a perfect fit to take over from Quinny. He certainly has the skillset.
“He’s incredibly resilient, and often, setbacks provide an opportunity to bounce back. I’m aware of his dedication; he was disheartened to be left out of the Proteas teams, but he remained focused, worked hard, and I’m pleased that it’s paying off for him,” Rassie added.

“I truly hope he continues to excel and has a strong tournament, reminding everyone that he’s still around and is a top-tier player.”
