Leinster has successfully matched the offer from Bath, a major team in the Premiership, to secure RG Snyman for the next season.
After much speculation, Snyman has finalized terms with Leinster, though it’s still uncertain when he’ll return from injury post his contract completion with Munster.
Regarding his salary at Leinster, Snyman was looking for an offer to match or exceed the R10 million proposed by Bath. Leinster has agreed to include Snyman in their top earners, signing him on a one-year contract with performance-related clauses. His payment will depend on the number of matches played, with a base salary of €500,000 (about R10 million) for the season.
Snyman and his wife Saskia, who works in Dublin, have established their lives in Ireland. Snyman expressed his desire to remain in the country, stating, “Having settled really well in Limerick since our arrival in Ireland almost four years ago, my wife and I want to stay on in Ireland if possible.”
Continuing with Munster wasn’t an option beyond June 2024, so Snyman has committed to giving his best for Munster until season’s end. He chose Leinster after considering various offers, seeing it as an opportunity to stay part of a high-performance rugby setup and remain in Ireland.
As a professional player, Snyman is dedicated to adding value to Leinster and improving his game to contribute to the club’s success. He’s grateful for the chance to work under Jacques Nienaber again and thanks Leinster for the opportunity.
