THE LAUNCH of the South African Football Supporters’ Association (SAFSA) regional structures gained momentum yesterday morning. An Interim Executive Committee of SAFSA – Tshwane region was successfully elected and is ready to take the Association to greater heights. The National Office of SAFSA has recently informed its members to convene regional meetings to among other things, elect their regional structures ahead of the Association’s first Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held before the end of September 2011.
At a meeting held at the Church Square football supporters, most of whom were from Mamelodi Sundowns, Supersport United, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, gathered to elect SAFSA’s Regional Interim Committee.
“It is encouraging to see supporters coming from different PSL clubs, showing interest in SAFSA. This is a sign of a clear commitment by of fellow supporters to start taking ownership of their Association. SAFSA is for all of us and we should all play part in taking it to greater heights”, said the newly elected Secretary and prominent supporter of Kaizer Chiefs Mr. William Mukwevho.
The Secretary-General of SAFSA, Siyabulela Makunga was an invited guest at the meeting and he congratulated SAFSA – Tshwane Region for electing its Interim Committee.
‘’We would like to congratulate members of the Interim Executive Committee of SAFSA-Tshwane on their election. It was heartwarming to see commitment from the owners of the Association stepping up to contribute to the work of the Association. SAFSA-Tshwane is posing a serious challenge to all other regions which I hope will soon follow suit”, Makunga said.
