Scam Alert: SA Rugby Warns Against Fake Springbok Merchandise

SA Rugby has issued a warning to rugby supporters to be cautious of online websites falsely claiming to sell official Springbok merchandise.

In an urgent “buyer warning,” SA Rugby alerted online shoppers about the risk of being scammed by fraudsters who are posing as the “official” Springbok store on various social media platforms.

Numerous fake sellers have appeared on Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms, using authentic Springbok imagery and convincing shop names to exploit the excitement around Springbok rugby.

There is only one official online Springbok store, which provides access to official clothing and licensed supporter items, ensuring that orders and deliveries are guaranteed. This store can be found on the official SA Rugby online platform.

SA Rugby Takes Action Against Scammers!

“There has been a concerning increase in online stores on social media channels, taking advantage of fans’ trust and their enthusiasm for Bok supporter wear,” said Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby.

“These scammers copy genuine marketing material from our apparel partner Nike and our own online store to deceive fans into believing they are official – often offering discounted prices.”

“We are issuing an urgent ‘buyer beware’ warning to fans, urging them not to fall for online fraudsters but to visit the official online store to avoid becoming victims of online scams.”
