

THE Selati Cup 5th Round Quarter Finals brought the heat to the Driekoppies and Kamaqhekeza stadiums this past Sunday. Sixteen local men’s and ladies’ teams showcased their talent and gatheir best performances yet, all in the hopes of securing their spot in the top 4.
Nkomazi ladies brought the Cup’s “Siyakora La!” mantra to life as they beat Njeyeza ladies 15-0. The football action didn’t end there, tough games between Langeloop Blue Crane and Block C Blue Birds and Phiva FKW and Mananga Royal both ended in a draw, with Langeloop and Mananga making it to the semi-finals after penalties.
Defending champions, Boschfontein FC continue in their pursuit to make history as the first team to win the Selati Cup twice, after beating Boschfontein Rovers 2-0.
After a thrilling quarter final, tournament coordinator, Kenneth Phiri said “This was definitely one of our best quarter finals yet, what a thrill to see the top 16 teams battle to keep their spot in the semi-final. Once again, the fans never disappoint and what would this tournament be without the excitement and joy that these communities bring when they come together to support their teams.”
The teams set to battle it out this at the semi-finals at Driekoppies Stadium this Sunday are; Schulzendal Eleven Experience v Langeloop Blue Crane and Boschfontein FC v Mananga Royal Eagles.
The Ladies continue to make their way up with top goal scorers such as Njalo Fonzama and Refilwe Biya both from Nkomazi Ladies, who secured their spot in the semi-final. Competing in the Ladies semi-final are; Schoemansdal Young Stars v Nkomazi Ladies and Schoemansdal Super Strikers v Schulzendal Phefeni United.
