Exeter Chiefs’ number 8, Ross Vintcent, has been selected by the new head coach Gonzalo Quesada for Italy’s Guinness Six Nations squad.
Ross Vintcent, playing as a number 8 for Exeter Chiefs, has earned a spot in Italy’s squad for the upcoming Guinness Six Nations, as decided by their new coach Gonzalo Quesada. The former Bishops’ student is one of five uncapped players included in the team.
Born in Johannesburg, the 21-year-old loose forward began his career at the Italian Rugby Federation Academy before joining Exeter in 2022. Vintcent had his professional debut with Zebre prior to transferring to the Gallagher Premiership.
Vintcent is joined in the Azzurri’s pack by other promising talents, including fellow back row player Alessandro Izekor and props Matteo Nocera, Luca Rizzoli, and Mirco Spagnolo, all of whom are yet to make their international debuts.
Coach Quesada expressed his plans for the squad: “We will have the opportunity to work together for the first time, albeit for just 3 days, with the entire group. In early January, our focus was on introducing a new working methodology, field trips, and meeting points. Now, we will delve into the fundamentals of our gameplay, focusing on attack and defense structures. Time is limited, so we will try to maximize our work efficiency. The staff has been working diligently, and there has been ongoing discussion to ensure the best possible transfer of information to the athletes,” as reported by Rugby Pass.
