Springbok Player Considered for Exit from Troubled Sharks to Join French Team?

Another South African national team rugby player is reportedly set to join French club Bordeaux after the conclusion of the current season.

Reports indicate that a capped Springbok from the Sharks is poised to move to France, having agreed to sign with the Top 14 club Bordeaux Begles.

The player in focus is the dynamic center Rohan Janse van Rensburg, who is believed to have secured a lucrative contract with Bordeaux for the upcoming season.

Currently, the Springbok is playing for the Sharks in the United Rugby Champions Cup and the European Challenge Cup. He joined the Durban-based franchise in May 2022 with a three-year contract from the English club Sale Sharks.

However, his time in Durban hasn’t been as successful as anticipated. Janse van Rensburg has been hampered by various injuries, limiting his playtime and impact on the team.

French rugby media are now reporting that Bordeaux has finalized a deal for the Springbok’s services for the next season. This development leaves the struggling Sharks with the task of finding a new midfielder to fill the void created by Janse van Rensburg’s departure.

In addition to Janse van Rensburg, Bordeaux is also rumored to have acquired Irish international Joey Carbery.
