Springbok Star May Switch Positions

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus is reportedly planning a positional change for one of his standout forwards soon.

Erasmus has allegedly requested the Sharks to allow Ox Nche to play as a tighthead prop to bolster the Springboks’ options in the front row.

SPRINGBOK STAR SET FOR POSITIONAL SHIFT
According to the Sunday newspaper Rapport, this shift has already resulted in Nche playing and training in his new role.

Nche took on the tighthead position in the second half of the Sharks’ game against Zebre.

Although he was pivotal to the Sharks’ quarterfinal victory in the Challenge Cup at loosehead, the transition to tighthead is underway.

DEDICATION TO THE TEAM
Nche, who has made significant sacrifices to participate in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, is known for his team-oriented attitude and has faced numerous challenges on his journey to the top.

Reflecting on his selection, Nche expressed that the sacrifices made were worthwhile. “It’s the highest form of success I could achieve, and it’s truly amazing. It makes all the sacrifices and hours invested in rugby seem worthwhile,” he stated.

A CONTINUOUS LEARNER AND PERFORMER
Nche has gained considerable knowledge from his teammates on the national team. “I always take the good that can help improve my skills,” he commented. “I’m fortunate to be part of a group that is both eager to learn and teach. Their willingness to assist and answer my questions has greatly contributed to my progress.”

Beyond his impressive scrummaging, Nche is also known for his dynamic play in loose scenarios and at the breakdown.

RASSIE ERASMUS FACING SELECTION CHALLENGES
Erasmus may also face selection difficulties for the upcoming Wales Test, particularly with the availability of Bulls and Stormers players who may be involved in the URC final. Additionally, Springboks playing in England and France are not expected to be available for the match, as it falls outside the international window.
