NTOKOZO MBAMBO TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM FOR SPRINGBOKS VS IRELAND MATCH
Mbambo, a former member of the Joyous Celebration group, will sing the South African national anthem ahead of the second Test match at the Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium. She will perform her rendition of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, following singer and actress Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane, who moved many South Africans with her powerful performance at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last week.

After KB’s stirring rendition, the Springboks secured a solid 27-20 victory over Ireland. A humbled KB, who received widespread applause for her flawless vocals, told EyeWitness News that singing the national anthem carried significant weight, both for the nation and in setting the tone for the team.

ABOUT THE GOSPEL STAR
Ntokozo Mbambo is well-known for her 2015 hit song “Jehova Is Your Name,” which has garnered over 41 million views on YouTube. The 38-year-old Umlazi-born singer began her professional music career with the internationally acclaimed Joyous Celebration at just 15 years old, making her the youngest member of the popular gospel ensemble.

In 2011, she pursued a solo career and has since won numerous awards, including the South African Music Awards, Metro FM Music Awards, Crown Gospel Music Awards, and the African Gospel Music and Media Awards.

Last year, Mbambo made headlines when controversial afropop singer Kelly Khumalo had an expletive-laden rant on social media platform X after losing the coveted Female Artist of the Year award at the 29th SAMAs to Mbambo. At the highly anticipated event hosted at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, Gauteng, Mbambo won three trophies: Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Faith Album, and Female Artist of the Year for her album, Lavish Worship.
