Renowned South African DJ and producer DJ Tira has been confirmed as the latest addition to the stellar entertainment line-up for Infinit the forthcoming parties featuring dance superstars Groove Armada.
Two Infinity events – staged in partnership with MTN and Motorola – are planned. More than 4 000 of the party faithful will dance ‘til dawn and enjoy multiple dance floors, bars and VIP areas at My Jet Lounge in Northgate, Johannesburg, on 13 May and at Trinity in Greenpoint, Cape Town, on 14May.
London-based Groove Armada, comprising DJ/producers Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, have been filling nightclub dancefloors worldwide with their big beat and trip hop sounds for the past 15 years, and have in that time collaborated with a wide variety of artists, including Neneh Cherry, Bryan Ferry, Boy George, Richie Havens and Will Young.
They are responsible for a string of global club hits, of which “I See You Baby” is probably best-known to South African audiences.
Among the South African acts confirmed for the Johannesburg party are Mayday Girls, Ryan Dent, Flash Republic, HouseHold Funk, Roger Goode, Ricardo da Costa and Nutty Nys, and Mia Monroe and Sean Oxley for the Cape Town party.
Joining them is award-winning Durban DJ/producer DJ Tira. Apart from rocking parties as a DJ since 1996, he is the brains behind Afrotainment Music, a leading label in the fields of house and kwaito. Among his top acts are DJ Cndo, the first black female DJ to release a house album in South Africa, and kwaito outfit Big NUZ.
“The partnership between MTN and Motorola will accelerate the smartphone revolution in South Africa – and what better way to showcase this development than with the year’s hottest parties, featuring dance music megastars such as Groove Armada?” says Eleanor Mitrovich, GM of MTN South Africa’s Branded Channel.
“Smartphone users are hip and tech-savvy, and they love to have a good time. The two Infinity events will thus cater to all their needs and wants, with the perfect blend of world-class music, top-of-the-range technology and hot-and-happening venues.
“So if you’re a switched-on South African who just has to have the inside track on all the latest technology, then this event is not to be missed – especially if you’re also someone who has their finger on the pulse of the best parties around!” says Mitrovich.
