By NAKAMPE LEKWADU

Absa Premiership’s defending champions, SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates were pitted against each other in the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout which is expected to be the main focus of the competition.

With Pirates having won their first cup competition in ten years after lifting the 2010 edition of the MTN 8 at the expense of traditional arch-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs a month ago-the mighty Buccaneers are expected to go an extra mile in this competition when they host Matsatsantsa A Pitori.

In another development, both Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns avoided each other in the quarterfinal stage with Amakhosi having picked Free State Stars with the Brazilians heading for KwaZulu-Natal to face Maritzburg United with Santos welcoming Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The matches are scheduled for next weekend at the venues still to be confirmed.
